L4 Basic Concepts on Integrating Technology in Instruction

As teachers, we often search for new methods of instruction, new skills to implement in the classroom to meet the needs of our students. Most of us also possess a commitment to lifelong learning, constantly striving to improve our abilities in subject matter and educational technology. Sometimes I ask myself, “How am I going to teach my students using technology?” or, “How can I use the Internet in order to keep my students interested and showing up for class?” At first, “I was struggling as a teacher. Not with classroom management or personal interactions with the students or administration but for a better art teaching.” In the area of integrating computer technology and the resources of the Internet into the curriculum, it is a method useful to the classroom teacher. This method is a synthesis of a personal process of discovery, teaching, and learning that has come from practical experience with teachers and students.
Manifestations of technology integration into instruction were changes in the way classes are conducted lecture or assignment may be posted or send through the website, quality of instruction is improved to a higher level, teaching learning process and use of strategies needs a teacher who set and plans activities ahead of time.
New teachers may need time in the integration of technology. There is no need for them to worry since technology integration is developmental and takes a gradual route to mastery and expertise. In time, teachers can advance from basic to a more complicated level of technology use in instruction.

L3 Educational Technology in the Asia Pacific Region

The progressive countries in the Asia Pacific region have formulated state policies and strategies to infuse technology in schools in order to provide confidence to educators, that they are taking the right steps in adopting technology in education.
Since policies continue to change, examining the Information and Communication Technology policies and strategies in New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong is necessary. Each state has its own goal, strategy and focus area to follow dependent on its governments plan concerning education and technology aspect.
For example, in Information and Communication Technology in New Zealand the government were focus on the school infrastructure and professional development while in Australia there were more in confidence of the students being creative and productive users. On the other hand, Malaysia technology plays more in facilitating teaching learning activities to assist school management; Singapore, made a key dimensions base on curriculum and assessment, learning resources, teacher development and physical and technological infrastructure and; Hong Kong the government aims to raise the quality school education by promoting the use of IT in teaching and learning.
In our country, I believe that we are starting to adopt this new educational technology. The school administrators were working hand in hand to introduce and implement quality education with the aid of technology use in classroom instruction.

L2 An Overview: Educational Technology 2

Educational Technology 2 is concerned with “integrating technology through teaching and learning.” Specifically this is focus on introducing, reinforcing, supplementing and extending the knowledge and skills to the learner so that they can become outstanding users of educational technology. It involves a deeper understanding of the computer as well as hands-on application of computer skills. However, this is not to say that its goal is to promote computer skills, rather, it is primarily directed at enhancing teaching-learning through technology integration especially nowadays that most people own a computer. Though there were many users, the only problem is I think most of them visit the website not for educational purposes but for social networking. People does not realize what’s the impact with the rise of educational technology in our society
Its aim is to infuse technology in the student teacher training, helping them to adapt and meet rapid and continuing technological changes, particularly in the thriving global information and communication technology environment.
Thus, anyone who is interested on how information technology can be used to improve not only instruction but the school management program and curriculum as well can utilize this method. It should be considered as a refreshing and exciting study given the idea that all learning should be fun.

L1 A Review of Educational Technology 1

Educational technology examines the application of technology to teaching and learning.  For teaching, it focuses on the nature of educational technology and its emergence in the classroom. The learners were also oriented towards averting the dangers of dehumanization which technology brings such as propaganda, pornography, fraud and other exploitative use of technology. Educational technology 1 will orient the learners, lend familiarization on how technology will be use, uplift the human learning process, impart different learning skills, introduce and acquaint learners on basic aspect of community education.
The definition of educational technology may often vary depending on whether the term is used by educators or technologists. Many educators use the term educational technology very broadly. Educational technology for those educators includes any media that can be use in instruction it might include printed media, models, projected and non projected visuals, as well as audio, video, and digital media. For technologists, those whose primary responsibilities relate to the management of equipment, educational technology is often define in terms of the hardware available that might be used in the classroom. This would include both audiovisual equipment and computers.
Since it is a complex concept, defining educational technology is not an easy task because the field is as wide and as endless and restless as the ocean. It has also attracted the attention of professional and nonprofessional educators. It means different things to different people. To some people, technology includes the art of using a stone to crack a nut or using a stick to lift an object.
