The definition of educational technology may often vary depending on whether the term is used by educators or technologists. Many educators use the term educational technology very broadly. Educational technology for those educators includes any media that can be use in instruction it might include printed media, models, projected and non projected visuals, as well as audio, video, and digital media. For technologists, those whose primary responsibilities relate to the management of equipment, educational technology is often define in terms of the hardware available that might be used in the classroom. This would include both audiovisual equipment and computers.
Since it is a complex concept, defining educational technology is not an easy task because the field is as wide and as endless and restless as the ocean. It has also attracted the attention of professional and nonprofessional educators. It means different things to different people. To some people, technology includes the art of using a stone to crack a nut or using a stick to lift an object.
